| Function | A mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK or MAP kinase) is a type of protein kinase that is specific to the amino acids serine and threonine (i.e., a serine/threonine-specific protein kinase). MAPKs are involved in directing cellular responses to a diverse array of stimuli, such as mitogens, osmotic stress, heat shock and proinflammatory cytokines. They regulate cell functions including proliferation, gene expression, differentiation, mitosis, cell survival, and apoptosis. MAP kinases are found in eukaryotes only, but they are fairly diverse and encountered in all animals, fungi and plants, and even in an array of unicellular eukaryotes. MAPKs belong to the CMGC (CDK/MAPK/GSK3/CLK) kinase group. The closest relatives of MAPKs are the cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs). |

Western blot analysis of p38 alpha/MAPK14 + p38 beta/MAPK11 + p38 gamma/MAPK12 on different lysates with Rabbit anti-p38 alpha/MAPK14 + p38 beta/MAPK11 + p38 gamma/MAPK12 antibody at 1/2,000 dilution. Lane 1: 293T cell lysate (30 µg/Lane), Lane 2: HeLa cell lysate (30 µg/Lane), Lane 3: K-562 cell lysate (30 µg/Lane), Lane 4: MDA-MB-231 cell lysate (30 µg/Lane), Lane 5: COS-1 cell lysate (30 µg/Lane), Lane 6: Neuro-2a cell lysate (30 µg/Lane), Lane 7: PC-12 cell lysate (30 µg/Lane), Lane 8: Mouse skeletal muscle tissue lysate (30 µg/Lane), Lane 9: Rat skeletal muscle tissue lysate (30 µg/Lane), Lane 10: Rat heart tissue lysate (30 µg/Lane), Exposure time: 40 seconds; 4-20% SDS-PAGE gel. Proteins were transferred to a PVDF membrane and blocked with 5% NFDM/TBST for 1 hour at room temperature. The primary antibody at 1/2,000 dilution was used in 5% NFDM/TBST at 4℃ overnight. The primary antibody at 1/2,000 dilution was used in 5% NFDM/TBST at room temperature for 2 hours.
